Career Clarity Session
Why this matters before anything else
My belief, shaped by three decades of placing senior professionals into the right roles and watching what happens when they land in the wrong ones, is that career satisfaction rarely comes from doing a job you love. It comes from doing something you do well, for people who genuinely value that in you. When those conditions are met, work feels different. When they are not, even a role that looks right on paper can slowly drain you.
Most professionals have never had a structured conversation designed to surface those conditions. They move from role to role navigating by instinct, or by what is available, or by what looks like the right next step on paper. This session changes that. It gives you a fixed point to navigate by, rather than a moving target shaped by the market.
Most people approach a career transition by updating their CV and searching for the next available role.
What is far less common, and far more useful, is pausing first to ask a more important question. Not what job is available. But what kind of work would allow you to be fully yourself.
The Career Clarity Session is a structured 90-minute conversation that helps you find that answer. We go beneath job titles, salary bands, and market availability to explore where you have genuinely thrived, what you do with comparative ease that others find difficult, the environments and people that bring out your best work, and the honest parameters of a role that would actually fit your life.
What we explore together
Where you are now and what has brought you to this moment. When you have been most in flow: what you were doing, who was around you, what made the work feel meaningful. What you are consistently known and valued for, the contribution you make with comparative ease. What you want more and less of, beyond title and salary, the texture of the work and the life the role allows. Your North Star: the ideal role you are navigating toward.
What you receive
After our session I will send you your Career Compass: a personal one-page document written in your own voice that captures everything we uncovered together.
Your North Star is the destination. Your Career Compass is what you use to check whether any opportunity is pointing in the right direction.
Clients return to their Career Compass when they are weighing up two roles, when a recruiter puts something in front of them, when they are wondering whether to apply, and when they sense something is not quite right about an opportunity they cannot easily name. It becomes a fixed point they navigate by rather than something they consult once and file away.
Who this is for
You are at a point of transition or consideration. You may have left a role, be thinking about leaving, or simply sense that the next move needs to be more intentional than the last. You are done applying for everything and hoping something fits. You want to start from a place of genuine clarity about what you are actually looking for and why.
This session also works well as a starting point for professionals who are considering the Senior Appointments Masterclass or Career Death and Rebirth but want to understand their own direction more clearly before committing to a longer programme. It is not a prerequisite, but for some people it is the most useful first step.
Spending time with Heather was one of the best decisions I made. She spent time listening and understanding the details of my situation, my feelings and the peripheral issues that played into my motivation for change. Heather provided advice on refining my CV, supported with interview preparation and recommended small adjustments to encourage positive behaviours and a change in mindset to get me ready for my next steps.
