  • When you book a session or buy a course or service: your name, contact details, booking details and purchase history. Payments are processed securely by our payment providers and we do not see or store your full card details.

  • When you work with us as a coaching or CV client: the information you share with us about your career, experience and goals, including your CV and application documents.

  • When you browse our website: technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and how you arrived, collected through cookies and similar technologies.

How we use your information

  • To send you the resource you requested and, where you have signed up, emails with career advice, resources and details of our courses and services. We do this with your consent and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.

  • To respond to your enquiries and provide the services you have booked or bought. We do this to perform our contract with you, or to take steps you have asked for before entering into one.

  • To run our business, keep proper records and meet our legal and accounting obligations. We do this to comply with the law and in our legitimate interests.

Who we share it with

We use trusted service providers to run our website and business. They process information on our behalf and only as we instruct:

  • Squarespace, which hosts our website and sends our emails

  • Acuity Scheduling, which we use for booking sessions

  • Our payment providers, which process payments for courses and services

  • Professional advisers such as our accountants, where this is necessary

Some of these providers may store information outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual clauses. We will only share your information with anyone else if the law requires it or you have asked us to.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies that are needed for it to work and, with your consent, cookies that help us understand how the site is used. You can choose which cookies you accept and manage them at any time through your browser settings.

How long we keep your information

  • Mailing list details: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep only a record that you have opted out, so that we respect your choice.

  • Client and purchase records: for up to six years after our work together ends, to meet tax and legal requirements.

  • Enquiries that do not lead to working together: for up to two years.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, to ask us to restrict or stop using it, to ask for it to be transferred to you or another organisation and to withdraw your consent at any time. To make a request, email heather@iansonburns.com. We will respond within one month.
